Recently, I had the good fortune of photographing a truly special day for GT, Malinda and their children. They’ve been married for years, but decided to re-new their wedding vows and involve their children. A highlight of the day was the “Sand Ceremony,” where each of them added a container of sand into a decorative piece symbolizing their family as one. Truly a day focused on family and love.
I could go on about this wedding, but I’ll let the photos speak instead…

As the weather turns cold here in Utah and the leaves change their color all along the Wasatch Front, I’m already thinking of warmer times and places.
I thought that I’d heat things up a bit with a short little post about a groomal session shot about 90 minutes west of here in the world famous – and toasty – Bonneville Salt Flats. It is a truly surreal place, but also a perfect backdrop to shoot the story of M’Kenzie and Derek.
Its a story as old as time: One man. One woman. One sweet 1960’s British sports car. Add salt to taste.

Adrienne and Brad’s summer wedding at Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon was beautiful. Before the ceremony, the three of us did some exploring in the canyon finding some spectacular locations for portraits. Millcreek Canyon and Log Haven truly are amazing – as were the happy couple. In addition to meeting great people, it’s fun to go exploring and discover new places to take photographs. I’m lucky, I get to be with happy people on their wedding day, and explore beautiful Utah.

I had such a blast with Jessi for her bridals. She may be little but she has quite the spunky personality! Jessi was game for anything I asked her to do and we went all over downtown. I loved these bridals so much I have had a hard time picking only a few for this blog. I guess I wasn’t very successful at narrowing it down. We just such a variety of wonderful shots!
This time of year as the green life of nature begins to die off, I seem to give more attention to the concrete jungle of Salt Lake. Urban architecture is a fabulous option for locations and Salt Lake has such a variety from elegant pillars and stairways to grungy alleyways. A bonus is that we don’t need to travel too far use a variety of backgrounds! The bride (and groom) can be framed so elegantly and simple within a doorframe. Thanks Jessi for being such a gorgeous bride willing to try anything! L, Logan

UPDATE: We’ve been re-published on Utah Bride & Groom’s site.
I don’t think I’ve ever been inundated with so many questions about when a wedding post would going up as I have about Allison & Drew’s! Ever since I posted their engagement session (with special guest, Gracie), I’ve been getting it at every turn – email, phone calls, Facebook, carrier pigeon – all wanting to know when we might see this amazing couple’s wedding day. Well, never let it be said that I don’t cave into peer pressure. Be warned though – this is easily the longest post we’ve ever done (you might want to grab a snack). So without further ado I give you Allison & Drew (and yes, Gracie) at The Canyon Resort’s mountain-top Red Pine Lodge…one of my favorite places to shoot!

Accident, or art? These photographs were made by my camera, not me. They’re all misfires as my camera rolls about in the trunk of my car, or simply gets bumped and decides to release the shutter. Accidental photos are proof that great things can happen by mistake… if you’re looking.
Happy Monday, and look for great things everywhere, even in mistakes!

This is Kelsey and Jacob… such a fun couple! We had a great time up at Red Butte Garden shooting their engagement photos. They were great at forgetting I was around and just being comfortable with each other.

Wednesday the world lost one of the centuries most prolific and influential photographers. Irving Penn’s signature blend of classical elegance and cool minimalism was recognizable to magazine readers and museumgoers worldwide. His contribution to the worlds of art and fashion are priceless. He has certainly inspired my photography over the years. His portraits are simple and clean, yet reveal a deep emotion and history. His still lifes of food and mundane objects show sculptured balances of shape, color and texture. Mr. Penn has left a thumbprint in my fascination and love for photography. His work will be remembered for centuries. To read more about Mr. Penn, you can read his obituary from the New York Times. “Photographing a cake can be art”

We’ve got a number of really fun weddings queued up to share with you but first…
As the weather has started to turn colder here in Utah, I thought I’d put up something from back when things were a bit warmer. Heather and Kyle live in California, but Heather’s family owns a simply stunning vacation home in the foothills of Park City. A large number of their holidays are spent here in Utah and they definitely have the mountain life in their blood.
So we decided to use the Kimball valley of Park City as our backdrop for these two and I am still in love with the colors that we were able to find. Come join us!

As a wedding photographer, it’s my job to be aware of energy and emotion and to capture these feelings photographically. Creating images that show love or evoke emotion is my intention, Scott and Melanie made my job easy… it’s written all over their faces! A picture really is worth a thousand words!

HEY PHOTOGRAPHERS! Did you know that one of the world’s premier wedding album manufacturers has its albums produced RIGHT HERE in Salt Lake City? IT’S TRUE!
KISS Wedding Books – ‘the world’s simplest book company” - has enjoyed such success that they’ve had to expand their production facilities earlier this year and chose our own back yard as their new production home! Want a tour? YOU GOT IT!
On October 14th Shaun Austin & Kevin Swan bring their Get Simple Tour to Salt Lake City with special guest speaker, Utah’s own Pepper Nix….and a tour of the plant is included! All for a measly $100.
Why, you probably spend more on lint rollers every month…

I have been so excited to post Tiffanee and Zach’s wedding photos. On family property set at the base of the Teton Mountians, the two were married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The day was gorgeous despite a huge rainstorm that rumbled through for a couple hours. The love of friends and family was way too strong to let the rain clouds dampen the day. I am so grateful to Tiffanee and Zach for having me all the way up to Jackson for their big day. Thank you two!
