L0T831311 300x201 Julia & Dan pt.1: Storm Mountain Ceremony | ZumaPhotoUtah has some simply gorgeous backdrops for hosting a wedding – some unlike anything else on earth – and I have been privileged to get to know most of them. Its rare then that I hear of a ceremony in a location that is entirely new to me, and that’s why I was so intrigued when Julia and Dan told me that they were getting married at the Storm Mountain natural amphitheater. Storm Mountain is located about 2 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon (home to the Brighton and Solitude ski resorts). I knew about the amphitheater, but I’d never heard of anyone having their ceremony there. Now that I’ve seen one, I wonder why not.

We started the day off at Julia’s Salt Lake home where she was getting ready with her bevy of beautiful bridesmaids.

I hadn’t had an opportunity to do a bridal session with Julia and when I saw just how elegant and graceful she was I got greedy! We only had about 10 minutes to work but I took up all of it. In addition to offering a simply stunning frame, Julia was easy-going and fun (thanks Julia!)

Ok, so I have a confession to make. Some men are leg-men. Others are breast-men. And those are all wonderful girl parts to be sure. But me, I’m a shoulder-guy. I think that a woman with shapely, tone, strong shoulders and arms is just feminine and sexy as all get out. Thanks, Julia, for letting me work this particular fetish out of my system. ;)

Is she pointing to her fantastic arms or to the fantastic flowers by Scenemakers?  You’ll see more of their work in the reception post.

So here is the amphitheater itself. What a fantastic venue!

Tip to brides: make sure that all flower girls understand the details of their role. This is a shot of the first flower girl down the aisle turning to look at the second flower girl, who was evidently under the impression that she was supposed to be the cleanup crew for the first and was picking up petals and putting them in her basket. Waste not want not!

    Mitch,

Thanks for sending the blog, and may I say, what wonderful images. I love how you are able to discern the ‘art’ of almost any space, no matter how plain and mundane it may seem or how overwhelming in beauty it may appear. I truly appreciate (as well as envy) your talent.

Hope all is well. Best wishes to the family.
