Monday, August 31st, 2009

Picture 17We are proud to announce the recent Grand Opening of our new studio in Sugar House and we’ve got this KILLER video from the amazingly talented David Perry to share a bit of it with you!

The new studio, dubbed ‘Studio 1053′, is home to ZumaPhoto, its sister studio Sprout Photo, and the Salt Lake annex of the incomparable, 6-time Best of State winning caterer, Culinary Crafts.

Thanks to a lot of help from our partners and friends, we were able to throw an awesome party for some 200 or so of our friends and favorite vendors!  We make a pretty sweet team, if I do say so myself.  ;)

Erika & Chris – Ruth’s Diner Wedding | ZumaPhoto

Friday, August 28th, 2009

18.jpg Often times, my photographer friends and I will talk and rave about all the great places we go and the amazing people we photograph. They’ll talk of a wedding in an Italian Villa, or a castle wedding in Scotland, but I have them all beat! A few miles up Emigration Canyon is the legendary Ruth’s Diner , the location where Chris and Erika were married. As far as I know, this was the first wedding there, and likely the only wedding at the historic diner.  Great location aside… the best part of my “job” (I use that word loosely since what I do is fun) is the people I meet. All the couples I photograph and I become friends, but, I truly consider Chris and Erika my new good friends.

So, with that said, head up the canyon to Ruth’s Diner for some great food and say hello to Chris and Erika, they’ll likely be there since it’s the family restaurant. And tell them Ryan sent you. And check out the amazing flowers WITH peacock feathers, no less, from the phenomenal Every Blooming Thing.

Julia & Dan pt.1: Storm Mountain Ceremony | ZumaPhoto

Friday, August 28th, 2009

L0T831311 300x201 Julia & Dan pt.1: Storm Mountain Ceremony | ZumaPhotoUtah has some simply gorgeous backdrops for hosting a wedding – some unlike anything else on earth – and I have been privileged to get to know most of them. Its rare then that I hear of a ceremony in a location that is entirely new to me, and that’s why I was so intrigued when Julia and Dan told me that they were getting married at the Storm Mountain natural amphitheater. Storm Mountain is located about 2 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon (home to the Brighton and Solitude ski resorts). I knew about the amphitheater, but I’d never heard of anyone having their ceremony there. Now that I’ve seen one, I wonder why not.

Jamie’s Stormy Bridals | ZumaPhoto

thumb1 Jamies Stormy Bridals | ZumaPhotoWhen the manager of your city’s premier couture bridal shop selects you as her wedding photographer, the first thing you feel is flattered. I mean, this is someone who has daily first-hand experience with the finest that the wedding industry has to offer. So for her to have picked me out of the great pool of local talent was quite an honor.

The second thing you experience is a sense of pressure as you realize “Holy crap! This is a someone who has daily first-hand experience with the finest the wedding industry has to offer!! We’ve got to come up with something new and amazing that she’s never seen before!! Something….dramatic….”   So, with a little help from the weather, that’s what we set out to do.

Wedding at Market Street Grill | ZumaPhoto

Friday, August 21st, 2009

harber_diptic_F.jpgSet at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon, the Market Street Grill was a perfect location for Whitney and Brendon to share their wedding celebrations with friends and family. It was a great choice for an indoor/outdoor wedding. The upper deck has these big doors that open up and allows guests to flow easily from the inside out onto the deck. It almost seems like one big room, only half of it doesn’t have a roof! Thank you so much Whitney and Brendon for sharing your day with me! Cheers! Logan
